May 31 -- Annual Licking River Clean Up
Please mark your calendar with the date below for the 3rd Annual Licking River Cleanup. We would love to have your help removing garbage from the Licking River to protect our great resource! The clean up starts at 1pm. We will be meeting at Cave Run Bicycle and Outdoor Center (www.caverunbikeshop.com) between 12:30 and 1pm. The focus of this years clean up will be between mile 3 and 8 below Cave Run Lake. A limited number of canoes will be provided by Cave Run Bicycle and Outdoor Center (at no cost to you). Garbage bags and shuttle will be provided. We suggest that you bring sunscreen, gloves, water, and snacks for the 4 hours on the river.
Following the clean up will be meeting at Cave Run Bicycle and Outdoor Center for pot luck dinner, so bring a some food to share.

June 12, 9 am -- Grandparent and Grandchild Day: Using Nature to Explore and Connect.
This is a day long activity designed to engage children and the child in the adult with nature. The day begins with a 3 miles canoe exploration of the Licking River. The group will have a picnic before heading out on a 1-2 mile hike near a wetland area (and possible a tour of the fish hatchery). Following the hike there will be a campfire for hotdog roasting and materials available to make a scrapbook for the days events.
Fee: $15 per adult and $5 per child.
All of the food, drinks, and snacks will be provided. In addition, we will be providing canoes, cameras, binoculars for bird viewing, and materials for making a scrap book of the days events. Each participant will receive a CD with photos from the trip. All you need to do is proper outdoor clothing (and a change) and sunscreen.

Presenting Project WILD and Flying WILD
Join the Louisville Zoo and Morehead State University for fun, content, and hands-on activities.
When: June 23, 2009 from 9:00 to 5pm
Where: The Louisville Zoo
Cost: $15 which includes two activity books, Flying WILD student pages CD, prizes, and lunch.

Take them all or just one – your choice.
You can either sign up for each workshop individually or take all of them. If you want to become a facilitator in any of the programs you must attend on the Thursday following the workshop to complete the remaining hours. Additional hours for a facilitator certificate in Flying WILD and graphing software demonstration will be held on July 9th. PLT and FLP additional facilitator hours will be completed on July 16th. The workshops run from 8 am to 4 pm (with a lunch break -- provided by you).

Need college graduate credit?
If you can sign up for SCI 676 and get credit for actively participating in the workshops listed above. Attendance is required on July 6, 7, 9, 13, 14, and 16 from 8 am to 4 pm, to receive course credit and certificates. If you are registered for SCI 676 there is no fee for the workshops.
